Why we chose ASKO

Why we chose ASKO

A dishwasher built on Scandinavian design, longevity and thoughtful engineering.

Some appliances simply do a job.

Others quietly improve the way you live.

When it came time to select a dishwasher for our kitchen renovation, we weren't looking for the most features or the flashiest marketing. We wanted something that aligned with the same philosophy we apply across every decision at RENU Living:

Luxe. Functional. Savvy.

After months of research, we landed on the ASKO DBI364ID — and it felt like a very RENU decision.

Scandinavian design that puts function first

We've always admired Scandinavian design.

Not because it's trendy, but because it consistently prioritises simplicity, longevity and purposeful engineering.

Those values sit at the heart of RENU too.

ASKO was founded in Scandinavia and has built its reputation around creating appliances that are designed to last, integrate beautifully into the home and perform exceptionally well over time. Rather than chasing unnecessary complexity, every design decision feels intentional.

It's exactly the kind of product philosophy we love to support.

More steel. Less plastic.

This was one of the biggest reasons we chose ASKO.

Modern dishwashers contain far more plastic than most people realise.

ASKO has taken a different approach with its 8 Steel™ philosophy, replacing plastic with stainless steel in eight of the dishwasher's most important components, including the spray arms, spray pipe, loading racks, filters, inner door, outer base and container. The company says no other dishwasher incorporates as many steel components in these key areas.

Why does that matter?

Steel is incredibly durable, more resistant to wear and designed to last significantly longer than plastic components. A longer-lasting appliance generally means fewer replacements over its lifetime and less waste.

While every modern dishwasher still contains some plastic components, we appreciate ASKO's effort to minimise plastic where it matters most.

It's thoughtful engineering with longevity in mind.

A kitchen should feel calm — not cluttered

One of our biggest design priorities was achieving a seamless kitchen.

The built-under integrated design allows the dishwasher to disappear into the joinery, maintaining clean lines and visual continuity throughout the space.

Good design isn't about drawing attention to appliances.

It's about allowing the entire kitchen to feel cohesive.

Why we chose white

For our classic home, the white finish was an easy decision.

It blends effortlessly into painted cabinetry, softens the overall palette and helps maintain the light, timeless aesthetic we were aiming for.

Visually, it also allows the kitchen to feel more expansive by reducing contrast between appliances and cabinetry.

Sometimes the quietest design decisions have the biggest impact.

Built for Everyday Performance

Of course, beautiful design only matters if the appliance performs.

The DBI364ID offers:

  • Capacity for 16 place settings
  • Three flexible basket levels
  • Ultra-quiet operation at 42 dB
  • Turbo Combi Drying™ with automatic door opening
  • Super Cleaning System™ that cleans the machine before the main wash, reducing the need to pre-rinse dishes.

These aren't flashy features.

They're practical improvements that make everyday life a little easier.

Exactly how we think appliances should work.

Buying better, not more often

One of the biggest lessons we've learned through renovating is that value isn't always found in the cheapest option.

It's found in products that continue performing year after year.

That's why ASKO's emphasis on durable steel construction resonates with us. The brand designs its appliances with longevity as a core principle, rather than treating them as disposable products.

It's a mindset we believe more homes should embrace.

Why it fits the RENU philosophy

Every product we choose for our home needs to earn its place.

For us, ASKO delivers across the three principles that guide everything we do.

Luxe

Refined Scandinavian design that integrates seamlessly into timeless kitchens.

Functional

Thoughtfully engineered performance that makes everyday routines simpler.

Savvy

Built with durability in mind, using more steel and less plastic where it counts, helping create an appliance designed for the long term.

Our Verdict

We didn't choose ASKO because it was the most advertised dishwasher.

We chose it because it reflects the kind of design we believe in.

Quiet confidence.

Purposeful engineering.

Products that are made to integrate beautifully, perform consistently and last well beyond passing trends.

For us, that's what investing in your home is really about.
